(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – ABC anchor George Stephanopoulos and Jim Trusty, former President Donald Trump’s attorney, had a heated exchange over Trump’s handling of classified documents.
On Friday, Trusty claimed that the Department of Justice had mistreated Trump by choosing to indict him in connection to his handling of classified documents. During his appearance on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” he also added that the Department of Justice was abusing the law by indicting Trump while not doing anything in President Biden’s classified documents case.
However, Stephanopolous was quick to stop Trusty from making these statements, saying that what he was saying was “ridiculous” and asking him what he was talking about.
The exchange on Friday morning took place after Trump announced on Truth Social that he would be indicted for allegedly mishandling classified documents. However, Trump claimed that the charges against him were an attempt to interfere with the upcoming election, and he called the entire case a “witch hunt.”
In his appearance on ABC, Trusty echoed those allegations, arguing that Special Counsel Jack Smith “is hell-bent” on making a crime out of something that should not be criminalized “under the Presidential Records Act.”
Stephanopoulos once again was quick to dismiss what Trusty was saying and argued that this is not about the Department of Justice being weaponized, as this case does not only relate to the Presidential Records Act but also to the “Espionage Act.” He pointed out that many of the charges, including obstruction of justice and false statements, were “common crimes.”
