(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – On Saturday, Krystal Keith, the daughter of Toby Keith who passed away in February from stomach cancer, accepted on his behalf an honorary degree from the University of Oklahoma. During the commencement ceremony, she revealed how proud and excited her father had been when he learned that he would be inducted into Sooner Nation.
She said that she had joked with him over how many hours she had spent in order to acquire her bachelor’s degree and he had even joked that getting his degree had not required a lot of hard work. However, as she pointed out they all knew how much he deserved this award and how many hours he had spent being dedicated in order to get it.
Krystal stated that her father was devoted to his work, family, and country and that his dedication and love for college had started from a young age. As she shared because of his love for the college he had ended up selling Cokes on the stadium just to be able to see OU games. He had even joked that he would only be selling the drinks during half of the game, while the rest of the time he would just sit down and watch the game.
Krystal noted that for as long as she could remember her father would bring them to bowl games and he had over been on the sideline of courtside during all of the OU events that he could attend. This type of work ethic also followed him in his music career.
