(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – On Saturday, President Biden told reporters that the Chinese spy balloon that had traversed over the U.S. for a week in early February was “more embarrassing” for China than “intentional.”

Before heading to Philadelphia, Biden revealed to reporters that he does not believe that leadership was aware of the balloon or what was happening and that he is hoping to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping to discuss the two nations’ differences and the different areas in which they can “get along.”

On Sunday, Anthony Blinken became the first secretary of state to visit China in five years. During his foreign trip, he is expected to meet with Qin Gang, his Chinese counterpart. Originally, the trip was planned for February, but it had to be postponed because of the spy balloon incident that took place that month.

The balloon was shot down by the U.S. military on the coast of South Carolina; this was a decision that led to a lot of criticism from Beijing. At the time, China stated that countermeasures should be taken against the “relevant U.S. entities” that have attempted to undermine China’s “sovereignty and security.”

The Chinese spy balloon has also caused internal conflicts, as Republican senators have been pushing the Biden administration to provide a “public accounting” of their assessment of the Chinese spy balloon situation and have accused the administration of “confronting China’s brazen threats to America’s security and sovereignty.” Republican Senators have generally taken issue with the Biden administration’s approach to handling national security.
