Chris Christie (R) during a recent 90-minute conversation at the Institute of Politics of the University of Chicago had argued that it was fairly “stupid” that President Biden had not reached out to him in order to request his support in the 2024 presidential election.
On Tuesday night Christie had informed The Washington Post’s Leigh Ann Caldwell that Biden had not tried to contact him since he withdrew from the race. He continued by stating that it was stupid of him not to have done so as he could have called for Christie to provide him with support.
Former President Donald Trump and President Biden are considered the presumptive nominees for their two parties, which all but guarantees that the 2024 presidential election is going to be a rematch of the 2020 presidential election.
Christie who had formerly been a critic of former President Trump has become one of his most vocal critics in the Republican party. He has thus far made it clear that there is no chance that he would support Trump in the upcoming election. This is something he reiterated on Tuesday, while also stating that he had no plans to vote for Biden, who he views as too old for the position.
Despite this Christie maintained that Biden should have requested his assistance. He also recalled a conversation he had with former President George W. Bush in which he had advised Christie that people liked being asked and that if Bush had been in the race he would have called him within 5 minutes of withdrawing from the race.
