Adam Schiff (D) has claimed that former Special Counsel Robert Hur had used the investigation into President Biden’s handling of classified documents to play politics. On Tuesday during a hearing, Schiff slammed Hur by accusing him that he had used the report to play politics against Biden.
Hur was quick to deny these allegations, however, that did not stop Schiff from reiterating his point. Schiff noted that he wanted Hur to return to his opening statement where he had claimed that he did not “disparage the president” in his report. As he argued this was not the truth as the report had disparaged the U.S. president.
Schiff had told Hur that he had disparaged him in a way that he had known would have a political impact on Biden. He proceeded to tell Hur that he had known that his report would be made available to the public.
In response to these claims, Hur argued that he had understood that it would be made public by the comments that the attorney general had made regarding the legal policy and requirements.
Schiff proceeded to point out that instead of using the report to make generic statements about the memory of President Biden he could have made simple specific references to any instances where Biden had failed to recall the information he was being asked to share.
Hur argued that he had written the report in a way that allowed him to omit making references to the memory of Joe Biden, but that if the report was not reflective of his analysis it would have been incomplete.
