( – Former Rep. Liz Cheney who has frequently expressed criticism for former President Donald Trump shared her reaction to former Vice President Mike Pence’s recent announcement regarding his 2024 endorsement decision.

Pence had served in the Trump administration however on Friday he announced during an appearance on Fox News that he would not endorse his previous running mate in the 2024 presidential election. Last week Trump officially passed the necessary number of delegates to be considered the presumptive Republican nominee. Trump has been ahead of all of his rivals throughout the primary race.

Pence argued that he believed that Trump was not following a political agenda that he was capable of supporting. Pence, who had run for the White House, had ended up withdrawing from the race in October.

Online users have pointed out that many of the Capitol rioters on Jan. 6, 2021, had specifically targeted Pence in the 2020 election certification. Trump has also received a lot of criticism for supporting this attack against Pence, as he had previously maintained that the Vice President had the right to overturn the presidential election results.

Pence stated that it should be unsurprising that he would not endorse Trump and that during his presidential campaign, he had clearly expressed that he and Trump disagreed on a number of issues. He then pointed out that Trump’s agenda was not aligned with the conservative agenda that they had previously followed during the Trump-Biden agenda. As he argued this was the reason he could not support Trump.

Cheney in reaction to this response served a statement by Dick Cheney, who had served as the vice president from 2001 to 2009, in which he argued that Trump was the greatest threat to the republic. He pointed out that Trump was a “coward” who had tried to steal the election in order to remain in power despite American voters rejecting him.
