(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – On Saturday during a rally in Iowa, former President Donald Trump argued that negotiations could’ve helped the country avoid the Civil War.

In his remarks, Trump stated that the conflict was both “fascinating” and “so horrible.” As he pointed out there were many mistakes and a high death toll, but still he believes that he would have been able to negotiate in that situation for the war to be avoided.

During the four years of the war, from 1861 to 1865, there were a total of 620,000 people who had lost their lives. However, Trump believes that former President Abraham Lincoln would have been able to negotiate for the war to be negotiated. Still, as he pointed out, if that had happened Lincoln’s legacy would be very different, and he would not have been as remembered as he is known. Still, He added that just being remembered as a President would have been okay.

Trump, who is leading the 2024 Republican presidential primary race, argued that he knew very well the process they had gone through, and that the two sides were not able to get along. However, he maintained that this could have been negotiated and that they could have stopped without having had such a problem.

These recent remarks came after last month’s comments by Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley who responded to a question about the Civil War stating that it was about how the government should run without mentioning slavery. She later added that she “assumed it was a given” that slavery was the main issue of the war.
