(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – On Monday, former President Donald Trump addressed the Republican critics who have slammed his position on abortion. He claimed it was him that had “won” against the Democrats and argued that they were “reeling” following his “Statement on Abortion.”
Trump took to his social media platform Truth Social to write that the Democrats did not have a response to his statement and that the only things that they are currently able to say are that Trump was “kidding” or would “change” his statement. He added that they were also saying that what he said was not what he was going to do and that instead, he would be doing something different.
Trump continued in his post by arguing that this meant that they had “won” because abortion was the only issue that the Democrats could focus on since they are “bad” on all other issues.
In his statement, Trump had argued that the abortion issue needed to be left to the state. Following this statement, he received many attacks from Democrats who argued that this meant Trump supported those states that had enacted strict abortion rules and restrictions and were punishing doctors for performing the procedure.
Trump in the video statement had also argued that he was proud to have been behind the appointment of the Supreme Court justices who had helped overturn the Roe v. Wade landmark case. The decision had previously granted the legality of abortions across the United States.
However, some Republicans opposed Trump’s statement as the former President stated that he supported exceptions to abortion in cases of incest, rape and to save a mother’s life, while also not providing support for a national back on abortions after the 15-week.
