(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – On Sunday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis dropped out of the presidential race stating that he would be supporting former President Donald Trump, who is currently the leader in the race.

DeSantis shared a video on X, formerly known as Twitter, where he noted that following the Iowa caucuses where he had come second, he would not be asking his supporters to give any more of their time and donations when it was clear that there is no path to victory. He added that because of this he is suspending his campaign.

His withdrawal from the race came less than two days before the first-in-the-nation primary in New Hampshire. According to the polls, in the New Hampshire race, Trump continues to win, while he is followed by former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley in second place.

In the video DeSantis argued that it was clear to him that the majority of GOP primary voters wanted to see Trump serve another term. He added that he has in the past had differences with Trump, especially regarding the pandemic, but that he had his endorsement as they should not return to the “old Republican guard.”

In response to this announcement, Haley praised DeSantis for his work as governor and argued that so far there has only been a vote in one state and that in that state only half of the votes had been in support of Trump. She added that voters deserved to have a say on whether they wanted to head towards a Trump and President Biden race again or if they wanted to go down a “new conservative road.”
