(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – On Friday, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) signed a letter from Secretary of State Antony Blinken and dozens of other Democrats which are calling for President Biden to put a stop to the transfer of weapons to Israel.
Following the Oct. 7 attack on Israel by Hamas, the Middle Eastern country has launched an attack on Gaza. According to reports by the Gaza health ministry there have been over 33,000 deaths in the war, while thousands are facing widespread famine. The current conditions in Gaza have led to international criticism.
Pelosi, who has been a long-standing ally of Biden, has now supported putting a stop to the weapons transfer, a view which is increasing in popularity within the Democratic Party.
In the letter, the Democrats called for the Biden administration to conduct an investigation into Monday’s Israeli airstrike which had resulted in seven staff of World Central Kitchen, an aid group, getting killed.
The letter received a total of 37 signatures, including those of Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib and Barbara Lee. As the group wrote in the letter they believe that it is unjustifiable to approve the transfer of the weapons following the air strike and the worsening humanitarian crisis.
On Friday, the Israeli military argued that they had dismissed two officers while also reprimanding the senior commanders following a probe into the deaths of the aid workers. The inquiry found that there were procedural breaches and serious errors.
On Thursday Biden had a call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during which he stated that Israel needed to take more action in order to protect civilians. He added that if Israel did not take more action then the United States would be changing its policy.
