(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – On Sunday, Rep. Greg Landsman (D-Ohio) dismissed the accusations that the border policy followed by President Joe Biden is being influenced by progressives and argued that Biden was “very independent
on this issue.
There was an increase in concerns regarding the progressive’s role after Biden had appeared to backtrack after previously stating that he would be using executive action to take action and secure the border. This decision was made after Biden faced a lot of backlash from the left wing of the Democratic Party which has been fighting against Biden’s willingness to follow a more hardline immigration policy. As they have also argued this policy approach resembles the one taken by former President Donald Trump.
Landsman stated during an interview on NewsNation “The Hill Sunday” with Chris Stirewalt that he did not believe the progressives had any influence. He added that this is an important and complicated issue and that Biden has been moving towards having some dramatic changes to the asylum process. As he pointed out these charges have bipartisan support.
Last month Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) expressed concerns about Biden’s new approach and argued that by doing Trump impressions they would not be able to defeat the former President. She then stated that the executive action that Biden had been considering to put a stop to the asylum process was “outrageous.”
Democrats and Biden have repeatedly been pushing the House GOP to support the bipartisan Senate bill which included extensive immigration reforms which had been shot down last month. Biden has put the blame for the border inaction on Republicans arguing that they were holding out until the 2024 presidential election.
