(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – On Friday, 2024 Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie blasted former President Donald Trump for claiming that he would “love” to debate Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle despite his decision to skip the first primary debate.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Christie questioned why Trump was not willing to debate his opponents in the presidential race but was happy to debate Meghan Markle. He proceeded to add, “What a joke,” and state that the two would surely have a “great debate on Spotify.”
On Wednesday, during an interview with radio host Hugh Hewitt, Trump, who is leading the 2024 GOP presidential race, was asked whether he would consider having a “sit down” with Meghan Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, if it would help his ratings. In response, he added that if Hewitt wanted to set that up, they should. He noted that they should do something and that he would “love” to debate Markle.
Christie took advantage of these comments by the former president to put out a fundraising post on X, calling for donations to his campaign. In the post, he called for his supporters to keep him on the debate stage for when “the coward,” a reference to Trump, would join the debate. The next Republican presidential debate is on Sept. 27. In his post, he also included a clip from his interview with CNN’s Dana Bash, where he said that Trump had said “many ridiculous things” and that he does not believe anyone is interested in seeing Trump and Markle’s debate.
As he pointed out, if people wanted to see change in real issues, including inflation, education, crime, and the law, then “serious candidates” needed to be on the debate stage.
