(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – On Monday, former President Trump joked that the only person who could get the necessary votes from the House GOP to become the next Speaker was Jesus Christ.
While talking with reporters in New Hampshire, Trump pointed out that the four-vote threshold was making it harder for House Republicans to elect a speaker. Four is currently the maximum number of times that candidates for the Speaker’s office are allowed to lose the vote and still be able to win the gavel.
As Trump argued, this four-vote threshold was extremely tough regardless of who was the candidate, and he argued that there was possibly only one person who would be able to do it, and that is Jesus Christ. As he said, if Jesus descended from heaven and declared he wanted to be the next speaker, then he would win the vote, but other than him, he did not see anyone else who could guarantee winning the vote.
Trump, who is the front-runner of the 2024 Republican primary race, has avoided endorsing any of the candidates who have placed a bid for the position and has instead praised them all, stating they were “terrific people.” He further stated that he had discussions with almost all of the candidates.
Trump added that something was going to end up happening, and it would all end up working well. He further noted that he was “staying above it” as he currently had to. This marks a change in the way Trump is handling the race for the Speaker’s gavel, as last week he endorsed Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) for Speaker. However, the House GOP chose to abandon Jordan’s nomination on Friday.
