(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – Activists are attempting to block former President Donald Trump from being added to the 2024 ballot in many states. However, officials have been unwilling to take action without first receiving guidance from the court.
Jocelyn Benson, the Secretary of State in Michigan, stated that they were only there to look at the basic facts and include someone on the ballot based on those. She added that they were “not the eligibility police.”
According to a recent report on Axios, different groups in at least eight states have been pushing for their election officials to block Trump from being on the ballot, stating that according to Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, anyone who has engaged in rebellion or insurrection against the country is not permitted to hold office again.
Despite these attempts, the Secretaries of State have been unwilling to ban Trump from the ballot, stating that they would require the court to decide in a ruling if Trump’s actions on January 6, 2021, during the Capitol attack were enough for him to be disqualified from the race.
Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics, in a lawsuit filed in Colorado, is claiming that Trump should be blocked from appearing on the ballot. Free Speech for People has filed a similar lawsuit in Minnesota. Free Speech for People has also sent out letters pushing for Trump to be excluded from the ballot in Ohio, Wisconsin, New Mexico, Florida, and New Hampshire.
