(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – A new poll indicates a narrowing of the lead President Joe Biden holds over former President Donald Trump in a hypothetical match-up for California’s 2024 presidential election. The University of California, Berkeley’s Institute of Governmental Studies (IGS) poll shows Biden ahead by 15 percentage points, a shrinkage from his 30-point lead in the 2020 election results.

About 23% of voters in California remain undecided, with few 2020 voters from either camp considering a switch. Notably, a significant portion of those who voted for either candidate in 2020 have not stated a preference, should Biden and Trump be the only options, according to IGS.

In a theoretical four-way race involving Biden, Trump, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Cornel West, Biden would still lead, but with a reduced margin, with Trump following and Kennedy and West picking up smaller shares of the vote.

Despite California’s lean towards Biden, his diminishing approval ratings signal difficulties in energizing the Democratic base and attracting swing voters, which could have implications for his broader campaign strategy. His performance ratings have dipped below the majority’s approval for the first time, with particular dissatisfaction with how he’s handling major national issues, from the war in Ukraine to the economy, crime, and immigration.

For the Republican presidential nomination in 2024, Trump has emerged as the favorite among GOP voters in California, with Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida as his closest competitor. California’s GOP rules could potentially give all the state’s convention delegates to any candidate who garners more than half the primary votes, emphasizing the significance of these early indicators.
