(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – Former President Donald Trump has alleged in a Truth Social post from Tuesday that he is expecting that the Department of Justice will indict him in connection to their investigation into the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack.
In his statement, Trump claimed that he had received a letter from special counsel Jack Smith during the weekend in which he was informed that he was the target of this investigation. The probe is looking into the Jan. 6 Capitol attack, when a mob of Trump supporters, encouraged by his claims that the election had been stolen through voter fraud, entered the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to block the certification of the 2020 presidential election results.
Trump has maintained that he is completely innocent in this case and that the investigations against him were politically motivated and an attempt to interfere with the presidential election.
Paula Reid, a CNN correspondent, tweeted that Trump’s ally Rudy Giuliani’s attorneys had stated that he had a “voluntary” interview in late June. Many experts have speculated that Giuliani may have flipped on Trump as a result of this decision. However, Giuliani’s lawyers have not confirmed if he has cooperated with prosecutors in connection with this case.
Giuliani, who had worked as Trump’s lawyer, had helped him push the unfounded allegations about the 2020 election being stolen from him. He was also allegedly responsible for overseeing the attempts to have fake electors appear in order to change the election results in battleground states that Trump had lost by a narrow margin.
