(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – On Saturday, former President Donald Trump found a new way to criticize Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis after he questioned the legality of the latter’s campaign funds. Trump is currently leading the 2024 Republican presidential primary polls, with DeSantis trailing behind him in second place.
While Trump currently has a comfortable lead, often polling at more than 50 percent, DeSantis is the only other candidate in the race to be able to receive support in the double digits. For this reason, DeSantis has often been the target of Trump’s attacks on many different issues.
On Saturday afternoon, Trump posted on his social media platform, Truth Social, to accuse DeSantis of having illegally transferred funds from his gubernatorial race to the campaign funds for his presidential campaign. As he wrote in his post, DeSantis was trying to find a way to leave the presidential race while also “saving face for 2028.” He then argued that Jeff Roe, whom he referred to as DeSantis’ boss, had been “spending money” like crazy and then alleged that these funds were most likely raised for the gubernatorial campaign and then possibly illegally transferred.
Trump backed his allegations by claiming that following DeSantis’ “terrible” presidential campaign and declining performance in the polls, most of those who would have donated to his presidential campaign have fled.
It has not been confirmed whether or not Trump’s claims about DeSantis’ campaign funds are accurate. The Federal Election Commission will be required to look into the laws in order to determine what the case is for these matters.
