(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – Former President Donald Trump continues to maintain a strong lead against all other candidates in the 2024 presidential primary race, despite the recent boosts in support that other presidential candidates have experienced recently.
In one poll released this week, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis managed to surpass Trump in one specific demographic group, that of the younger GOP voters. Trump’s attitude towards many of his supporters has also led to many questioning his stance, with one social media post alleging that Trump had denigrated the intelligence of Republican voters.
The post by user @DanielleCandela on X, formerly known as Twitter, was posted on August 25th and has since received more than 63,200 views. In the post she also attributed one quote from an edition of People Magazine from 1998 to Donald Trump. At the time Trump had allegedly claimed that if he were ever to run for the White House he would do so as a Republican because he believes they are the “dumbest group of voters in the country.” He had added that they would believe anything that is stated on Fox News and that his numbers if he ran would be “terrific.”
The user in her tweet further noted that Trump had flown into Georgia with his fake tan, fake information he included in his booking sheet, and even needed to get a bail bondsman. She added that Trump had been right and that his supporters were “that stupid.”
The quote had similarities to a different Trump comment from 2016 when he had stated that even if he shot someone on New York’s Fifth Avenue he would still not lose any supporters. Despite this, there is no record of Trump ever stating the quote that the X user had used. Still, the false quote has been circulating the internet since 2015.
