(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – On Tuesday, John Bolton, the former national security adviser who had also served in the Trump administration, stated that he was concerned about the possibility of a “constitutional crisis” brought forth by a possible second term for former President Donald Trump. However, he added that he still believed that the country’s institutions were strong.
During an interview on CNN’s “The Lead with Jake Tapper,” he stated that he was almost sure that the country would only go downhill during Trump’s second term, but that this did not necessarily mean that the government would be under Trump’s control.
He added that one of the biggest dangers of Trump winning a second term would be the constitutional crisis that would ensue. He proceeded to question who would nominate the attorney general and what would happen if the attorney general gave one of Trump’s orders to the Justice Department’s staff members, which resulted in all of them resigning. He also questioned what would happen if Trump gave illegal orders to the military, which also resulted in resignations.
As he warned, this would be what would happen in a second term, and the threat was not that Trump would assert his position but rather that all the country’s institutions would break down. Still, he stated that he believed the institutions to be strong enough to resist any attempts made by the former president.
He proceeded to question what the result of this push would be and argued that it is possible that it would all end with the majority of the country having turned against the former president.
