(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – Jimmy Patronis, a chief financial officer in Florida, stated on Saturday during the state Republican Party’s Freedom Summit that it was possible that taxpayer dollars could be used to cover former President Donald Trump’s legal fees. The suggestion drew a lot of criticism online.
During his remarks, Patronis argued that it was possible to set up a legal defense that could be used to fund the Florida presidential candidate, who was facing a number of “politically motivated” prosecutions. He also suggested that there could potentially be a way for them to fix the “double standard of justice” that Trump is up against, as he is being prosecuted while no one is locking up Hunter Biden.
He suggested that a possible solution to this situation would be to create a new legal defense fund that could be used by Florida presidential candidates who were being targeted by the Department of Justice or other prosecutors who were politically motivated.
Currently, there are two presidential candidates in Florida, as both Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis are running in the 2024 presidential race. Both candidates were also in attendance during the summit.
In his speech at the summit, Trump spoke about and brought up to the stage many Republican Florida lawmakers who had decided to switch from endorsing DeSantis to endorsing Trump ahead of the event. Trump is currently leading the 2024 GOP primary in all polls. His campaign has also not lost any momentum as a result of the 91 felony counts in the four different criminal cases he is facing.
