( – Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina, a Republican, has pledged to continue and finish the border wall efforts initiated by ex-President Donald Trump if he gets elected in 2024.

During his appearance on a Sunday Fox News segment with host Griff Jenkins, Scott pointed out that the Democrats lack insight on the border situation. He criticized the Biden administration for repurposing materials that had been allocated for the wall’s construction.

Scott mentioned, “The disconnect between Washington and the rest of America is evident. The recurring issues in the capital are why many Americans have lost faith in its leaders. I’m familiar with this sentiment.”

He noted, “While I do spend time in Washington, most of my time is in South Carolina. And I want to tell our national leaders, in a Southern manner, you’re missing the point.”

Scott appreciated Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s efforts on the migrant transportation initiative, emphasizing how it has enlightened many urban areas about the border challenges.

Scott remarked, “Instead of repurposing the materials meant for the wall, the Biden administration should be using them to finish the job.”

Despite his comments on Biden, Scott faces competition in the Republican presidential primaries, where Donald Trump is notably ahead of other contenders. Only Trump and Florida’s governor, Ron DeSantis, have secured significant support in early polling.

Recently, Scott shared personal insights about his life. Currently in a relationship with a devout Christian woman, he spoke about his upbringing in a single-parent home and the impact of an absent father. He said, “Growing up in those circumstances made me vow to never let that be my story. My faith has been my guiding light, and I’m grateful for how it’s shaped my journey, including meeting the right person at the right moment.”
