( – Actor Robert De Niro drew a comparison between former President Donald Trump and the World War Two dictators Adolf Hitler of Germany and Benito Mussolini of Italy, arguing that he did not understand why voters were not taking Trump more seriously.

During an appearance on “The View” on Tuesday, De Niro argued that he did not understand why people were not taking Trump seriously. He continued by noting that if you look at the history of other countries, it was always these people whom others were not taking seriously who became dictators. HE [proceeded to refer to Mussolini and Hitler as clowns and fools.

De Niro has been a vocal critic of Trump and has questioned who does not believe that if he wins back the White House he will be doing exactly what he has claimed he would do. As he pointed out, this is something that Trump has already done, and after the election people would just be sitting around and saying “We told you so.” He proceeded to say that this is what would happen if Trump got elected and that he would completely change the United States for everyone.

The Academy Award winner argued that the people who supported Trump with hate and anger are going to see.

The talk show’s co-host Whoopi Goldberg argued that people should wait and see and argued that if Trump won back the White House he would not “stop being president.” She added that Trump’s idea was to remain in power until he died.
