(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, has threatened Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., warning him that a possible motion to vacate the Speaker’s office was “on the table.”
On Tuesday during an appearance on “The Steve Deace Show” stated that he left the possibility of a motion being filed on the table, but that did not mean that he intended to file it tomorrow. However, he then added that this also did not mean that he did not intend to file it tomorrow.
He pointed out that he believed it was important for the Speaker to be aware that they were angry about the agreement, and that they needed to have discussions to solve it.
This is a significant criticism from Roy, who had not been one of the eight House GOP members to have voted for former Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s historic ousting in October. Still, the Representative has been fighting against the new funding agreement that Johnson and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., reached over the weekend.
Previously he referred to the bill, which was aligned with the commitments former Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., and President Biden had agreed upon during the debt ceiling increase negotiations, as “garbage.” He further discussed Johnson’s promise that the spending bills would bring conservative policy wins.
The $1.59 trillion funding deal, includes an additional $69 billion side deal that had previously been agreed upon by McCarthy and Biden. On Sunday, Johnson announced that there had been an additional $16 billion in spending cuts that he had secured for the fiscal year, which would help offset the additional spending.
