(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – On Thursday, House Republicans led by Rep. Dan Newhouse, R-Wash., pushed forward new legislation that condemns the health order issued by Democratic New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham that had temporarily blocked open and concealed carry in Albuquerque. The carry ban has now been temporarily blocked.
The resolution introduced by the Republicans condemned the governor’s emergency order, which had suspended both open and concealed carry in Bernalillo County for 30 days. The GOP, along with some Democrats and advocates of the Second Amendment, blasted Lujan Grisham for the order, arguing that it was violating the constitutional rights of Americans.
On Thursday, Newhouse released a statement to Fox News Digital in which he noted that this was a “shocking move” by the governor and that it had been a violation of the oath she had given when she took office as she was blocking the citizens of New Mexico from their “right to bear arms.”
He continued by noting that the actions taken by the governor should “send a chill up every American’s spine” as she had taken away the rights that are protected by the Constitution and had set a dangerous precedent for all Americans. He added that he was proud to be introducing a resolution condemning the actions taken by the governor and pushed for her to “rescind” the “order immediately.”
The resolution is supported by over 50 House GOP lawmakers and is also backed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) and the National Rifle Association (NRA).
