(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – Alex Bruesewitz, a GOP consultant known for his alignment with former President Trump, is contemplating challenging Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-Wis.) in a primary due to Gallagher’s refusal to support the impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. This information comes from a source close to Bruesewitz who spoke with The Hill.

Previously, Bruesewitz had considered running for Gallagher’s seat amid rumors that Gallagher might seek a Senate position against Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.). However, Gallagher decided against the Senate run, which at the time halted Bruesewitz’s plans.

Now, Gallagher’s stance on the Mayorkas impeachment seems to have reignited Bruesewitz’s political ambitions. Although currently residing in Palm Beach, Bruesewitz has roots in Gallagher’s district and is reportedly planning an event there to assess support for a primary challenge.

According to the source, Bruesewitz has been encouraged by various figures within the Trump circle and Congress to pursue a campaign against Gallagher, especially after Gallagher’s vote on the Mayorkas impeachment. Bruesewitz, who has a history of targeting certain Republicans on social media, has garnered the nickname “RINO slayer” for his efforts against figures like Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Gallagher was one of three Republicans who opposed the impeachment resolution against Mayorkas, which accused the Homeland Security Secretary of violating immigration and border security laws. Despite Gallagher’s critical view of Mayorkas’s performance, he voiced concerns in an op-ed that impeaching Mayorkas would not solve the border crisis and could establish a harmful precedent for future administrations.

Bruesewitz, however, has publicly criticized Gallagher for his vote, suggesting it betrays Wisconsin and the Republican Party. He accused Gallagher of making a “swampy back room deal” to protect Mayorkas, a move he deemed unforgivable.

Gallagher, a Marine Corps veteran, represents a district that strongly supported Trump in the 2020 election and has secured his congressional seat with significant margins in past elections, including a comfortable victory in 2022 with only independent and Libertarian challengers.
