Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), during an interview with CNN, stated that the next presidential election was crucial and that another Trump presidency would be disastrous for the country. As she argued during the election, the country’s democracy was “at stake.” She added that this was something that they heard across the country and the world, and that it was important that they show how strong the U.S. democracy is.
She then referenced the national anthem, saying that with this presidential election, they needed to show that they still stood for justice and liberty in the same way that they pledged to do so daily. As she claimed, though, President Biden is unlikely to win a presidential election against President Biden, but if he did, it would be a “nightmare scenario.”
Pelosi is one of the most vocal opponents of the former president and has often spoken out against the possibility of him serving a second term in office. While serving as the House Speaker, she also led the Democrats efforts to have Trump impeached twice and was an integral part of the 2022 midterm election strategy, which allowed the Democrats to maintain their majority in the Senate while only losing nine seats in the House.
When CNN’s Anderson Cooper referred to Trump’s statement about locking up his political rivals if he wins the presidential election, Pelosi stated that what was being described was a “criminal enterprise” and that Trump had previously “engaged in one.” She added that the impeachment inquiry against Biden was baseless and that the House GOP was just being influenced by the former President, despite the fact that they did not have any evidence to bring forward against Biden.
