(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – Broadcast Music Inc., the music licenser for rapper Eminem’s music, has sent a letter to GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy requesting that he stop using Eminem’s music while on the campaign trail.
The Daily Mail obtained the letter dated back to Aug. 23, in which BMI informed Ramaswamy’s campaign lawyer that the rapper had contacted them to inform them of his disapproval of the usage of his music in the GOP candidate’s campaign. They proceeded to request that all of Eminem’s musical compositions be removed from the campaign.
BMI also confirmed sending the letter and has noted that, following the letter, they did proceed with the removal of all of the artist’s music from the campaign’s license. The campaign had originally reached an agreement for Eminem’s music with BMI on May 24. According to BMI, the letter, which was effective immediately, was to inform the campaign that all of Eminem’s musical compositions would be removed from the license the campaign had. They added that any future use of Eminem’s music by Ramaswamy’s campaign would constitute a “material breach of the agreement.”
Earlier this month, Ramaswamy went viral over a video in which he was singing along to Eminem’s “Lose Yourself’ during the Iowa State Fair. At the time, the entrepreneur and presidential candidate had revealed to Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds (R) that this was his favorite walkout track.
The campaign, in a statement to the Hill, simply stated that they would need to “leave the rapping to the real slim shady.”
