(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – Migrants have been heading towards the United States border arguing that they wanted to cross before the November election, just in case former President Donald wins the presidential election and ends up closing off the legal routes.
On Sunday, hundreds of people from various countries made their way to one of the U.S. border crossings along the Mexico southern border.
The Associated Press reported that some of these people had stated they were hardworking and wanted to reach the United States in order to create a border life for themselves. However, they have also expressed fear that a second Trump administration is possibly going to put an end to that possibility.
A migrant from El Salvador who goes by Miguel Salazar noted that they are currently running the risk that the permits for crossing into the country could end up being blocked.
Trump in his 2024 presidential campaign has vowed that he would be putting in place tougher border controls, while also calling for mass deportations.
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s app, CBP One, is providing the permits that Salazar was talking about, as they allow migrants to make appointments at border crossings. However, they are only able to book that appointment after they have reached Mexico City or the country’s northern part.
In June 2024, there were close to 42,000 appointments through the app, while more than double that number had crossed illegally into the country.
There are only four months before the 2024 presidential election, and about half a year until the next president takes office. In recent months it has become tougher and more time-consuming for immigrants to cross through Mexico.
