(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – GOP Senators have stated that they suspect that Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) will need to get the assistance of House Democrats in order to avoid a government shutdown at the end of the month. As they have expressed, they do not believe McCarthy will be able to bring together his conference to pass any measures and stop the government from shutting down on October 1st. As such, he would need the assistance of the Democrats to keep the federal government running.

However, they have also stated that he is unlikely to reach out to the Democrats until the very last minute in the hopes that he will be able to avoid facing the backlash of the House conservatives, who have frequently threatened that they would start a motion to have him removed from his position.

In reality, though, the only way for a spending measure to pass through Congress is with bipartisan support, as a Republican bill that passes through the House will be unlikely to have success in the Democrat-controlled Senate.

One Republican senator, who chose to remain anonymous, stated that this was a test for the new Speaker and that he would most likely eventually need to reach out to House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries in order to pass a continuing resolution and avoid a government shutdown.

On Tuesday, House Republicans scrapped a vote for a CR. It is now expected that the Senate might move forward and approve of a CR first. For the government to not shut down, it would have to pass through the Senate with 60 votes or more and then pass through the House.
