(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – A leaked memo from In-N-Out, the West Coast burger chain, has caused outrage among mask advocates as it details plans to ban employers from being allowed to wear masks in five states.
The policy is set to go into effect on August 14, and it will affect employees in Arizona, Texas, Colorado, Utah, and Nevada. Those employees in Oregon and California will remain unaffected, as their states have laws that do not allow employers to ban masks.
Employees who are able to get a “valid medical note” are allowed to be exempt from this new policy, which is supposedly going to improve customer service as customers will be able to see employees’ smiles. In cases where a medical exemption is provided, employees will need to wear an N-95 mask that the company provides unless otherwise specified by their doctor.
Mask advocates took to social media to oppose this policy and encourage their followers to do the same. Dr. Lucky Tran, a Columbia University Irving Medical Center scientist who shared the memo, blasted the policy, pointing out that it can be both “harmful” and “discriminatory.” She then encouraged all of her followers to contact customer support at In-N-Out and oppose this discriminatory policy.
Many liberals who commented on the ban pointed out that this policy did not account for the fact that some workers might have immunocompromised family members that they needed to protect. They added that when they entered a business, they did not care whether or not the employees were wearing masks or not.
