(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – On Friday, Vice President Kamala Harris claimed during a moderated discussion in Iowa that most Americans are one $400 expense away from going bankrupt. The discussion was focused on “reproductive rights,” and Harris pointed out that the additional cost was going to make it hard for American women to get an abortion.
While talking with women in Iowa, Harris pointed out that being required to travel to a different state in order to get a legal abortion following the overturning of Roe v. Wade means that women have to take care of an unexpected cost in order to get an abortion. As she pointed out, for single parents, the costs rise even further as they would need to find someone to take care of their children while they travel to get an abortion.
She further noted that women traveling to a different state for an abortion would be required to leave their work, take family leave, or take sick leave in order to make the trip. That, added on top of the bus, plane, train, or gas tickets required for the trip, would mean that American families wanting to get an abortion would have to incur a $400 unexpected expense at a time when that amount could cause many of them to go bankrupt.
Many conservatives on social media were quick to attack Harris for this point, claiming that all of the economic hardships faced by the American people were a result of the policies followed by the Biden administration.
Sen. Tim Scott, who is running in the 2024 presidential election, pointed out that Americans’ spending power has been reduced by $10,000 because of the agenda followed by the Biden administration.
