(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – Prosecutors for the Department of Justice slammed former President Donald Trump for his efforts to have the Mar-a-Lago classified documents case dismissed with a filing on Monday.
Justice Department Special Counsel Jack Smith brought forward the charges against Trump for illegally mishandling and storing classified documents in his estate after leaving the White House in 2021. Trump is also facing charges for resisting any federal attempts to retrieve the documents. Trump has maintained his innocence in this case and has pleaded not guilty to all charges. He has also slammed Smith for allegedly politically targeting him.
Trump’s lawyers have been pushing to have the case delayed and even dismissed as it was revealed that the documents order has been changed since they were first obtained by federal law enforcement agencies in August 2022. However federal prosecutors in their Monday filing argued that the efforts to have the case dismissed are ridiculous.
The filing also notes that the court should see the newfound motions and explanations of the defendants as the latest attempt by Trump to make accusations against law enforcement professionals who are just doing their work. He added that the motion should be denied by the Court because it is flawed and misleading when it comes to the facts and the law.
Prosecutors David Harbach II and Jay Bratt in the filing also included a number of photographs that had been taken during the investigation, as well as criticisms against the former President. They also defended their so far handling of the documents.
