(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – The Pew Research Center put out a new survey which found that only 39 percent of young people still believe that the American dream is possible. However, the percentage is far higher among white Americans, Older Americans, and those in the higher income brackets, as they are more likely to think that they have already achieved the American dream.

The survey discovered that close to 60 percent of Americans under the age of 50 believe that the American dream is dead. Specifically from those aged between 30 and 49, 57 percent believe that the American dream had at one point been possible or was never possible. Those under 30 appeared even more pessimistic as only 39 percent consider that the American dream is still possible.

However, older adults aged between 50 and 61 are far more likely to believe that the American dream is still possible, with 61 percent arguing that it is still a possibility. In that demographic 35 percent believe that the American dream had once been possible while 3 percent have argued that it was never possible.

The results also varied greatly based on income, race, educational background, and political party alignment. Those with a higher income are more likely to believe that it is still an achievable dream with 64 percent of upper-income Americans stating that they believe that the American dream is still possible. However, that percentage drops to 39 percent among lower-income American adults.

Those who are college-educated are also more likely to believe in the possibility of upward mobility when compared to those who have received less than a college-level education.
