( – On Monday, prosecutors pushed back against Hunter Biden’s move to try and subpoena documents from former Department of Justice officials and former President Donald Trump in the firearms case against him. As they pointed out Hunter Biden did not possess enough evidence to support his allegations that there was possible political interference in the criminal investigation against him. This was why they were pushing for a judge to reject the requests filed by Biden.

Prosecutor Leo Wise wrote in court documents that the subpoena requests and allegations were most likely inadmissible and that these were “far-reaching” requests for documents concerning individuals who were not involved in the case’s prosecutorial decision.

The investigation into Hunter Biden’s firearm purchase and taxes had first been opened in 2018, during the Trump administration. However, charges in this case were filed this year, during the time when Hunter Biden’s father, Joe Biden had been in office. Wise referred to that fact as an “inconvenient truth” that destroyed the argument of the defense.

The subpoena request is going to be considered by U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika.

Hunter Biden’s legal team has alleged that there were certain occasions where it appeared that partisan pressure had been applied in this case, by former Attorney General William Barr and deputies Richard Donoghue and Jeffrey Rosen. They had also cited some of the comments that Trump had made, as well as information from the House panel that had investigated the capitol attack as well as some of the sections in Barr’s book.
