(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – On Monday, former President Trump’s lawyers met with prosecutors from the DOJ to argue against Trump facing any charges in connection with the probe looking into his handling of classified documents after leaving office.
Currently, the DOJ has two investigations into Trump, one of which is looking into any possible mishandling of classified materials after he left office in 2021.
The WaPo stated in their report that, according to a person who was familiar with the case, two of Trump’s lawyers had tried to make their case during the meeting. The exact meaning of the meeting is still unclear, as typically lawyers will only meet with officials from the DOJ after an indictment has been handed down.
Trump became the first United States president in history to face criminal charges after he faced 34 counts of falsifying business records in connection to a hush money case. The case was brought forth by the Manhattan district attorney, and Trump has pleaded not guilty to this case.
Trump joined the presidential race in November, and he is currently the front-runner in the 2024 Republican primary race despite the fact that he is facing a number of legal investigations. In the past, the former president has claimed that all of the cases against him were part of a political witch hunt and has stated that the Department of Justice operated with partisan bias.
Last month, Trump’s lawyers sent a letter to the Justice Department requesting a meeting with United States AG Merrick Garland.
