(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – Late Tuesday, Las Vegas authorities announced that eight teenagers had been arrested and were facing murder charges in connection to the beating that resulted in the death of another student.
Officials reported that the eight suspects ranged in age from 13 to 17 and that because of their ages, the names would not be immediately made publicly available.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) Lt. Jason Johannson stated during a press conference that all of the students involved in the case were Rancho High School students. He further stated that the video of the incident was “void of humanity” and that there was nothing to suggest that the incident was a hate crime.
The attack had taken place on Nov. 1, and the Clark County coroner’s office had already confirmed that 17-year-old Jonathan Lewis had died as a result of the injuries from the beating. His death has been listed as homicide.
In the video of the beating, Lewis can be seen on the ground unable to defend himself before falling unconscious. The fight allegedly broke out over a pair of stolen wireless headphones. There are also reports that a stolen vape pen was also part of the reason for the altercation.
Police believe that there were 10 people involved in the beating and have asked for the public’s assistance in helping identify the last two people in the case. The photos of the last two people have not yet been released publicly.
