(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – On a recent Wednesday, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Florida) expressed his belief that either Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) or Rep. Steve Scalise (R-Louisiana) would significantly surpass the performance of ex-House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-California).

Speaking on Newsmax, Gaetz commented, “When considering either Speaker Jim Jordan or Speaker Steve Scalise, the vast majority of conservatives nationwide would likely view them as a marked improvement over Speaker McCarthy.”

Previously, Gaetz was instrumental in the movement to unseat McCarthy. He was among the eight Republicans who, together with Democrats, resulted in a 216-210 vote, leading to McCarthy’s ouster from the speakership on Tuesday. Later that day, McCarthy declared he wouldn’t seek the Speaker position again. In a subsequent press briefing, he singled out Gaetz.

McCarthy stated, “Everyone is familiar with Matt Gaetz. This was personal. His claims weren’t about fiscal issues or any other allegations he made; it was solely about grabbing headlines.”

In addition, McCarthy criticized the group of eight Republicans who voted against him, saying, “Their actions don’t define conservatism; their anger and disorder do. That’s not the party I recognize.”

In the aftermath of McCarthy stepping down, both Scalise and Jordan have expressed interest in the Speaker role.

Gaetz mentioned, “I put forward Jim Jordan’s name earlier this year. He’s certainly someone I’d support. Steve Scalise is equally commendable. I have high regard for him and would back him. I anticipate we’ll witness several adept individuals stepping up.”
