(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – An attorney disciplinary claim has noted that a former federal prosecutor who was responsible for overseeing over 200 cases connected to protests following the 2017 inauguration of former President Donald Trump had withheld evidence.
According to the D.C. Office of Disciplinary Counsel (ODC), Jennifer Kerkhoff Muyskens, formerly of the D.C. district attorney’s office, had, according to the reports, tried to obscure or edit video evidence against defendants even though the videos would have otherwise cleared all charges against them.
The cases Muyskens had mostly considered related to rioting charges, destruction of property, or conspiracy during the protests at the 2017 inauguration of the former President. The majority of the cases targeted Disrupt J20, a protest group, and resulted in the arrest of 230 people.
Disciplinary counsel Hamilton Fox has argued that Muyskens had heavily relied on Project Veritas-provided video material in order to support the prosecutions. However, the videos were edited in a misleading way.
Fox has also claimed that Muyskens had tried to hide that the videos had come from Project Veritas in court and had removed any reference to the group. She had also edited out certain clips which took away the defendant’s ability to legally defend their position.
The complaint notes that Muyskens had been aware that editing the videos might hurt the prosecution. It is further argued that she had made false and misleading statements to the U.S. government.
The charges brought forward by Muyskens against over 100 defendants had eventually been dropped.
