(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – The Department of Justice has tried to get a gag order on former President Donald Trump, which has left the court having to weigh in on comments that prosecutors have referred to as “disparaging and inflammatory” about most of the people who are a part of the Jan. 6 case.
The Justice Department has claimed that the remarks made by Trump could have tainted the jury pool, while other comments he has made could be deemed witness intimidation against all those who are considering testifying against him. If the request filed by the department is successful, then there could be further questions raised regarding the First Amendment. It could also potentially play into the former president’s narrative that the Justice Department had only filed the cases against him in order to interfere with the 2024 presidential election and damage his prospects in the election.
Trump, who has a predilection, could either be fined or even face jail time for violations of the previous order.
Former state prosecutor Jeff Robbins argued that in cases like this, “the devil will be in the details.” He further claimed that the judge is going to need to consider how the actions they take now could affect the results later before making any final decisions.
In their case, the Department of Justice refers to several remarks that Trump made in late 2020 that challenged the victory in the 2020 election and questioned whether the election could have potentially been stolen.
