( – Jen Psaki warns replacing President Joe Biden at the Democratic National Convention would be “seismic.”

On Sunday, during her “Inside with Jen Psaki” show, the former White House press secretary explained that replacing Biden at the Democratic National Convention would be risky. She highlighted that those hoping Biden steps aside to allow a new candidate to step up should be aware “that isn’t exactly an easy road.”

Psaki claimed that such a maneuver “would have a seismic impact on the Democratic Party” and would mean thousands of insiders would be given the power to choose a nominee, rather than the “millions of Democratic party ballots” voters cast in the primaries.

Following Biden’s poor debate performance against former President Donald Trump, some Democrats are concerned the President doesn’t have what it takes to beat Trump and are reportedly urging him to step down.

However, given Biden has already won the Democratic primary, he can’t be overthrown at the convention, and the decision to step down would be up to him

Psaki highlighted that if Biden did step aside, he might be replaced by a “talented” candidate, who would be “largely untested” and could have “low name identification” and then would be required to obtain enough support to defeat Trump in November.

Replacing Biden, Psaki declared, would be “very messy and potentially divisive,” she also noted it is highly “unlikely considering Congressional Democrat leaders, former President Barack Obama, and First Lady Jill Bill have all been vocal about their support for Biden even after his horrendous debate performance.
