(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – Aquilino Gonell, the former US Capitol Police Sergeant, has argued that former President Donald Trump being blocked from office would make it possible for them to gain closure following the Jan. 6 Capitol attack.
In an interview on SiriusXM, Gonell told Dean Obeidallah that he did not know what closure would be for him. However, he argued that it could potentially be Trump being blocked from being allowed to take up political office again and barred from ever entering the White House again. He also argued that it could potentially mean having Trump go to jail or lose everything because of all of the people’s lives he had endangered.
Trump is currently facing a number of lawsuits across the country that are aiming to stop him from being on the 2024 presidential ballot. In those lawsuits, it is alleged that Trump violated Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which clearly states that anyone who previously held office and engaged in insurrection would be blocked from holding office ever again.
Gonell, who has written a book called “American Shield: The Immigrant Sergeant Who Defended Democracy,” which will be released soon, argued that Trump, as the President of the United States, was the person responsible for the Capitol attack. Previously, he has also argued that Trump had completely betrayed the oath he had given to the Constitution.
As he pointed out, the insurrection was against the Trump administration, as Joe Biden had not yet been sworn into office. He added that it was a national security threat that resulted in many Congress leaders fearing for their lives.
