(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – Democratic Rep. Bennie Thompson confirmed that the staffer who posted “don’t miss next time,” on social media about an attempted assassination of Trump is no longer employed by him.
In a statement, Thompson (Mississippi) shared that he had been “made aware of a post” a staffer made, adding that the staff member is “no longer in my employment.”
In the since-deleted post, Jacqueline Marsaw, who served as Thompson’s field director, wrote in a social media post, “I don’t condone violence,” before stating, “but please get you some shooting lessons so you don’t miss next time.” She tried to play it off as a joke in the same post, adding, “oops that wasn’t me talking.”
On Saturday, just after former President Donald Trump took the stage at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, multiple shots were fired toward the stage.
The presumptive GOP nominee hit the deck as Secret Service agents rushed the stage, surrounding him before escorting him off the stage.
Corey Comperatore, a firefighter, was killed as he shielded his wife and daughters from the gunfire.
Following Marsaw’s social media post, calls grew for Thompson to fire the staffer, who joined his team in July 2023.
Marsaw is a Natchez, Mississippi, native, an alumna of Jackson State University, who served as secretary, vice president, and then president of her local NAACP. She was also the former field director of the National Action Network, before joining Thompson’s team.
Thompson, who currently chairs the Homeland Security Committee, introduced legislation to remove Secret Service protection for anyone sentenced to prison while Trump was on trial in Manhattan.
