(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – A Secret Service agent has been robbed by gun-wielding thieves in Tustin, California.

On Monday, local and federal law enforcement revealed that on Saturday night at approximately 9:30 p.m. (PT), a U.S. Secret Service agent had been robbed at gunpoint. The agent was off-duty when the robbery occurred.

The incident coincides with President Joe Biden’s fundraising event in Los Angeles that raised $30 million and had a star-studded guest list featuring A-listers like Julia Roberts, George Clooney, and Jimmy Kimmel.

In a statement, the Tustin Police Department (TPD) revealed that the Secret Service agent had not been injured but that the assailant(s) managed to steal a bag belonging to the agent.

According to statements of the incident by the Secret Service and the TPD, the agent, who has not been named, fired his weapon during the robbery.

In its statement, the Secret Service revealed that the agent had “discharged their service weapon” during the robbery but couldn’t confirm whether the agent struck the assailants, expressing their gratitude that the agent had not sustained injuries.

The Secret Service also revealed that the incident occurred as the agent was returning from a “work assignment.”

According to the TPD, some of the agents’ belongings were recovered nearby. Police are still searching for a silver 2004 to 2006 Infiniti FX35 or a vehicle with a similar appearance believed to be connected to the robbery.

The incident highlights California’s growing crime problem, which has overtaken most cities and continues to worsen. Tustin’s crime rate is 21 percent higher than the national average, according to data released by the FBI in September 2023.
