( – On Tuesday, the White House claimed that the House GOP in the Judiciary Committee has been working to “harass” a private citizen following their resolution to hold Mark Zwonitzer, President Biden’s ghostwriter, in contempt of Congress.

The meeting is set to take place on Thursday where they will consider whether the man should be held in contempt after he refused to hand over his notes and audio tapes from his interviews with the president.

The President’s counsel Edward Siskel sent a letter to Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), the chairman of the  Judiciary Committee in which he argued that Zwonitzer could not comply with the request due to the Executive Branch interests that are at stake. He added that the committee’s plans are a clear case of the government being weaponized for political purposes, which is something that the House GOP is claiming they are against. He noted that they were placing a “private citizen” in the middle and threatening him with possible criminal prosecution just because he did not engage with the Executive Branch.

Siskel argued that if they were actually interested in looking into the way classified information is handled then they would engage with the Executive Branch rather than be trying to get information from a private citizen that does not have any classified information authority.

The Republicans requested Zwonitzer’s materials following special counsel Robert Hur remarks that  in his investigation that Biden had seemed as if he had read some passages from his notebooks when speaking about the classified information.
