( – Following the recent release of redacted documents that are connected to the search warrant of former President Donald Trump’s X account, formerly known as Twitter, many MAGA activists have expressed concerns over possible violations of freedom of privacy and speech.

In January, Department of Justice special counsel Jack Smith had tried to gain access to Trump’s search history on the social media platform, including any blocks, mutes, and even drafted posts available. All of these would be part of the investigation relating to Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election and the actions that ultimately resulted in the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

As part of the warrant, X was also told to provide access to a list of all of the different devices that had been used for logging into the account as well as any information available for the users that were interacting with the former President. This list was also meant to include all the users that had retweeted and even favorited tweets that the former President had made from his account.

This particular request is what has caused many MAGA activists to be concerned. Co-owner of the Trending Politics news website Collin Rugg proceeded to refer to the special counsel as the “enemy of the people.”

The Federalist editor and Fox News contributor Mollie Ziegler Hemingway similarly argued that the request for information about users who had liked Trump’s tweets was a “dystopic nightmare,” especially considering how calmly the majority of the country had taken that news.
