( – Lt. Ridge Alkonis’s wife Brittany Alkonis, in a new appearance on Fox News, claimed that her husband’s imprisonment in Japan had been easier than the one in the United States. Alkonis had originally been imprisoned in Japan, but after being sentenced he was sent to the United States where he could finish his sentence.

Brittany Alkonis argued that after her husband was sent back to the U.S., President Biden had the power to either pardon him or commute his sentence. U.S. Navy Lt. Ridge Alkonis was released to U.S. custody earlier this month after he was imprisoned on charges relating to the death of two Japanese citizens during a car crash while getting down from Mount Fuji. However, once he had arrived in the United States, Alkonis was once again taken to prison in order to fulfill his prison term that had been originally imposed by Japan.

Brittany argued on Tuesday that the President needed to commute her husband’s three-year sentence. Additionally, she noted that Ridge’s commanding officer had reviewed the investigation record and had not found him to be at fault. He had also stated that Ridge should be allowed to continue with his career and even get his promotion.

Anchor Dana Perino noted that National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and Vice President Kamala Harris had collaborated to get Alkonis back stateside. However, he expressed uncertainty over whether or not Biden would take any action to free him from captivity in the United States. She added that this was exclusively the choice of the President to make.
