( – Late on Sunday, President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden shared their New Year’s message during an interview, where Biden focused on his attempts to win a second term in the White House in 2024.

During the interview with Ryan Seacrest, Biden started by wishing everyone well for the New Year, and stating that he was hoping people would understand that the United States was in a far better position than any other country to be the leader of the world. He added that it was time for them to come back.

When asked about which moments from 2023 stood out for him, Biden touted his administration by pointing out that they had created jobs for over 14 million people, and that this had allowed people to make a much better living. He added that he felt good that the American people have been able to recover, as they had been through a hard time during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The interview was pre taped and was aired during ABC’s “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest,” only hours before the East Coast entered the new year. The New Year’s special has become a tradition for the Bidens, as Seacrest has interviewed them for the past four years.

Jill Biden in her own message stated that it was all about people being optimistic and “kind to one another.” The first couple had started to speak from St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands, which is where the Biden family celebrated the New Year.
