(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – In a new interview, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., alleged that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ rhetoric regarding refugees from Gaza was what resulted in the murder of a 6-year-old Palestinian-American boy.
On Sunday, DeSantis stated during an appearance on CBS’s “Face the Nation” that the United States should not allow any Gaza refugees to enter the country following the escalation of the war between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas. DeSantis further argued that Palestinian Arabs needed to find refuge in other Arab countries and should not be allowed to enter the United States.
Ocasio-Cortez, who appeared on “CNN News Night” with Abby Phillip, argued that the remarks made by DeSantis were dangerous and that it was rhetoric such as this that had led to a six-year-old boy being stabbed 26 times. She added that it was “reckless” and “unacceptable” and that no U.S. leader should be putting forward such messages.
Ocasio-Cortez was referencing an incident from Saturday morning where 6-year-old Wadea Al Fayoume was repeatedly stabbed and lost his life as a result of the attack. His mother was also stabbed during the incident more than a dozen times, but thus far she has survived. Joseph M. Czuba, 71, who was the family’s landlord, was the attacker and is being charged with murder.
Will County officials have revealed that the attacker stabbed the boy and his mother because of the family’s religion, as both were Muslims. The incident has been classified by the Department of Justice as a hate crime.
